As we all know the “Super ElNin’o” has been the unfortunate star of the long-term winter forecast hype but… I have also been seeing changes in that and more talks of “polar vortex”… now whether it will be short lived or not has yet to be seen but the talks are that the collision between that and the super ElNin’o puts according to maps I have seen Michigan and Wisconsin in an above average snowfall position. Now I’m not so sure I buy completely into either scenario but sure sounds better than the super ElNin’o that’s getting all the attention anyways. Me… I still believe that mother nature will do whatever she wants to do and don’t put too much faith in long term forecast predictions, I’m just hoping for rideable snow!

Yeah, there’s a lot of talk about what the effect of the “SE” will be. I guess I’ll take my usual optimistic approach and predict we will get some epic dumps in our area. My track record is not very good, I’ve made this same prediction for the last two winters and both winters have been right up there with the worst snow years NW Minnesota has ever had. Trail riding has been measured in weeks or even days rather than months.

Am I discouraged? Not really. I’ll be checking the forecast every day this winter and looking for that big dump I know is coming

“Am I discouraged? Not really.” My feelings exactly, pretty sure mother nature is going to do whatever she wants, I’m still booking and not putting any faith in long term forecasts, funny thing is if winter is mild they will say “see we were right” and if mother nature gives us what we want, we will be lucky to even get an “oops” or some kind of bogus explanation. Weather is weather and never any guarantee’s with it.
